Support Pete Alva After Losing His Mother
Donation protected
After 5 months of dealing with losing nearly $35,000 in income due to my mother's death, as I was her caretaker paid by the State of California's In Home Supportive Services program, I am forced to the inevitable which is starting this GoFundMe page. (Unfortunately there was no severance pay for Caretakers.) My dear mother Carmen, bless her heart, never owned a car, and did not own a home, nor did she have an estate. So there was nothing to inherit but I didn't care. I'm just glad I got to take care of her and I did so since I was 18 years old. Everyday I told her she was the greatest mommy in the world because she was. I wish that a lot of my friends got to meet her, and many did, and they all loved her.
I and never in my life applied for unemployment insurance until recently I applied for and got unemployment but it took over three months to get it from the State of California. Luckily I turned 65 to get Social Security....But of course that took a couple of months. My unemployment will probably run out in less than 2 months.
I applied for several local photography jobs and video jobs but no one has hired me, as they seem to be looking for younger employees and people that have different experience in photography and editing. I did, however, secure a very good job with a major magazine which is why I went to Sturgis.....And that is why i'm not allowed to load my Sturgis photographs on Social Media that I took and it will take 5 to 9 months to get paid for all my work. The magazine industry only pays upon publication in the magazine. That's the way it's been always when I had jobs like that , but it's good pay. But I won't see my first paycheck until January or February. Any other jobs I do for them will be the same situation. But the good thing is at a photographing again and I will make a major announcement when it gets published!
All of these situations have happened in ADDITION to getting swindled by a movie streaming company 3 years ago for thousands of dollars ( they also went out of business after swindling others.)
AND having to move out of a 5000 square foot building because the landlord wanted to make more money by renovating the property i was renting And he also kicked out 4 other tenants to do the same thing. This is after I had spent thousands of dollars on the building renovating/fixing many parts of that building and the landlord would not fix...but liked what I did so much he also moved into my building. So when we moved we had to settle for a 1 bedroom apartment, and get a 30 foot storage building. So my total rent went up $1100.00 more. Then my mother's health got even worse and she kept falling, causing even more intense grief on top of her dementia.
All this was a series of cataclysmic events that nearly put me into bankruptcy the 2-3 years, and now it has come to being in survival mode.
BUT... Remember, I still have my film, The Biker Movie...as I had plans of putting it up for sale to a Major Streaming Company but got put into an EXTREME 24 hour a day caretaker position due to the traumatic health issues that happened to my mother falling and getting brain damage which put her in severe conditions where I had to work under 24 hour a day conditions for me and several doctors and home health workers to help her. So for many months I had to put my movie on hold, my music career on hold, and my life on hold in the prayer filled hopes that my mother would survive even longer than they told me she would. I'm devastated that she passed away but im glad she's not suffering anymore. All of this took a physical and mental toll on me having to move her around a lot and I had hand injuries, back injuries and an aggravated hernia that I shall get an operation as soon as possible, then I'll have to get on disability for a bit.
In the meantime with the kindness of your hearts I can get by and concentrate on selling my film to a streaming company and set my music up to be sold somehow soon, especially the song I wrote for my mother called 'Miracle' which I will be recording soon with a vocalist that I just had a meeting with. So anyone that donates will get a digital complementary copy of it later on.
Again.I want to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart for helping me get through the last few years. Especially with my mom and other situations, and thank everybody in advance with the current.
