My name is Petala Ironcloud, and I am the founder of Petala Beauty (pay-tall-uh), a sustainable skincare brand that celebrates my Lakota heritage using traditional botanical ingredients.

After years of research and testing sundry products from the skincare industry, I was struck by how disconnected modern products are from their ancestral roots and ecological impact. That's why I'm creating Petala Beauty - to revive the historical Lakota dermatological wisdom of my ancestors in a sustainable, ethical way.

I am researching and consulting with tribal members, botanists, and chemists to guide the creation of my first product line. The ingredients will be sourced from a rooftop garden I am building in New York City, which is grown using sustainable urban gardening practices with which I have over a decade of experience.

Part of Petala Beauty's core mission is giving back to indigenous communities. That's why 5% of all profits will be donated to the Fort Peck Assiniboine & Sioux tribes to support their #LandBack initiatives and sovereignty efforts.
