A dedicated police officer, daughter, and friend, Alyson is now facing one of life’s hardest battles: the fight against cancer. Your support will help her focus on healing while reminding her she is never alone.

On June 1, 2025, Alyson was celebrating five years of service with the Vernon Police Department (VPD) in Connecticut. It was a milestone reached, a reflection of her dedication, compassion, and hard work. During the celebration with family and friends, Alyson mentioned to her mother, Sonia, that she had noticed a swollen lymph node on the left side of her neck. Sonia, a registered nurse and Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor herself, immediately recognized the concern. She encouraged Alyson to make a doctor’s appointment as soon as possible, fearing her daughter might be facing something all too familiar.

Five days later, Alyson saw her doctor and began a series of tests, ultrasounds, biopsies, and scans. After what felt like endless waiting, the oncologist delivered the diagnosis: Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Although this form of cancer is highly treatable, the journey ahead is anything but easy. Alyson now faces months of chemotherapy, along with the physical, emotional, and financial toll that comes with fighting cancer. Prior to Alyson’s diagnosis, she and her boyfriend Adam moved in together and began sharing all living expenses. Adam has been in the process of making a career change, which means exciting new opportunities, but financial setbacks as well.

Despite the challenges of treatment, Alyson continues to serve on light duty, showing the same courage and commitment that her career demands of her. Unfortunately, with light duty comes the inability to work overtime. Also, it is possible that Alyson will need to take unpaid during the course of her treatment. This, combined with uncovered medical expenses and the challenges of everyday life, has created a growing financial strain.

Alyson’s spirit has remained unwavering. She has always been the kind of person who enjoys serving her community and the people she cares about. Alyson is particularly passionate about her work as an advisor for the Vernon Police Explorer program. Alyson has dedicated much of her time towards educating and training young adolescents who have found interest in policing at a young age, just as she did when she started her career as a police explorer. We are asking family, friends, and the community to rally around her during this difficult time. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the burden of medical costs and living expenses, allowing her to focus on what matters most, healing and recovery.
