My husband, Pere (Peter) Dusevic, is only 41 years old and was recently diagnosed with grade 4 diffuse midline glioma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. This news has turned our world upside down. We are seeking specialized care at different cancer centers dedicated to this type of cancer. Unfortunately, this means we must pay out of pocket for the cutting-edge treatments that offer him the best chance.
Pere is an incredible, hands-on father who brings joy to everyone around him. Throughout his life, he has created many lasting friendships, entertaining all with his contagious laugh. He is a very respected engineer who has done so much for our country and national defense, and he is also a proud first-generation Croatian American who worked tirelessly to build a successful life for our family. Now that Pere is unable to work, I have had to take time off from my job as an elementary school teacher to care for him full-time, while also looking after our three young children: Maja (10), Marina (8), and James (6). The financial strain is overwhelming as we try to cover our mortgage, bills, and daily expenses, all while making sure Pere receives the best possible care. Our children are still so young and need their father now more than ever. Every day is a challenge, but we are determined to fight for Pere and keep our family together through this incredibly difficult time.
Pere is so loved and supported by his family and friends, and we are reaching out to our community for help. Your support—whether through a donation or by sharing our story—will make a tremendous difference in Pere’s fight for his life and in helping us care for our children. We are deeply grateful for any help you can offer during this critical time.
