  • Pepper is the heart of our family and my son’s absolute best friend in the whole world since we adopted her when she was 4 months old. Approximately 2 weeks ago she started experiencing extreme neck pain and stiffness that has progressed daily. She has been to the vet 3 times since then and to a dog chiropractor with no improvement. They referred her to a neurologist for what they thought was a pinched nerve or vertebrae issue. We are now back at the ER with her to be seen by neurology prior to her appointment due to her now not being able to stand and loosing completely mobility. They are wanting to do MRIs and imaging as well as possible surgery. We are already almost $2,000 in over the last 2 weeks trying to wait for her neurology appointment. We just had to take her to AVES in Austin to get her seen and were transferred to Texas A&M Veterinary Hospital for MRI and surgery to repair a slipped disc that is compressed on her spinal cord. She will be in the hospital for at least a week through this process and we are looking at this costing between $8,000 up to $11,000 for treatment. We are asking for any assistance possible to help be able to ensure that we are able to get all of the care needed to get her back home and healthy. If you would rather donate directly to her account at the hospital that information can be provided as well.
  • 15OCT2025 UPDATE - Pepper had her MRI this morning and was supposed to have her surgery right after, but we received a call from the hospital telling us that it was not a slipped disc and instead she has a tumor that is compressing her spinal cord. They gave us a few options that included surgery which is not highly recommended due to where it is, radiation, waiting for the lab results to see if it is an infection causing the tumor or opting to stop all treatment. We spoke to the oncologist there and he is very hopeful in her prognosis if we do two high dose radiation treatments tomorrow and Friday. He said he expects her to have her mobility back and significant improvement in her pain levels. So we have opted to go with this option and are praying that everything goes well so we can get our happy baby Pepp back with us where she belongs. Continued prayers and support are greatly needed and appreciated
  • 17Oct2025 Update - Pepper has now had two large doses of radiation with steroids. The hospital called with this evenings update and said that she is resting well and is not yelping in pain when you touch her neck area and said that she is repositioning herself upright without yelping and even got herself up and took a few steps. They said it is going to be at least 10-14 days before we see a major change and how this treatment plan has worked. Depending on how she is over night they are wanting to discharge her tomorrow so that she can recover in a more friendly and familiar setting with hope she will recover better at home. Her treatment has been very expensive and any help that can be given to pay for her medical treatment is greatly appreciated.
