Everyone, meet Penny, my foster dog from the East Valley Animal Shelter. Penny is a 6 year old German Shepherd who was found as a stray and spent over a month waiting at the shelter for someone to come for her. But, no one ever did.

When I told volunteers I wanted to foster an older shepherd who was good with other dogs, they introduced me to Penny. From the moment I met her, I knew she was special. She’s incredibly gentle, calm, and wonderful with every dog she meets.

Unfortunately, dogs like Penny are often overlooked in shelters. Especially older German shepherds with minor medical needs. But she deserves a second chance.

After a few weeks of fostering her, I finally found Penny a forever home… the only catch is that her new family lives nearly 1,800 miles away in Wisconsin.

I usually cover all expenses for my foster dogs myself, so asking for help feels a little strange. But the only thing I’m asking for support with is renting a car so I can personally drive Penny to her new family and make sure she arrives safely.

My long term goal has always been to help transport shepherds and huskies from overcrowded California shelters to areas of the Midwest where these breeds often thrive.

Penny has already waited so long for her second chance. Now she finally has a home, I just need to help get her there.
