Support Penelope's Hospice Journey
Donation protected
Over a year ago, Penelope’s breast cancer returned and has metastasized to her bones
and is beginning to be found in her lungs. The cancer treatment was seriously
threatening some of her organs, so it has been decided that she no longer tolerates the
treatment and Penny (AKA Penelope, Mom, Grandmama, Grammy) is now under
hospice care at Pilgrim Place's Health Services Center. She is receiving compassionate
and attentive palliative medical care, and that allows David to be Penny’s loving
husband rather than her primary caregiver.
While her medical needs are covered by Medicare through hospice, Medicare does not
include the cost of room, board, nor the extra care at the Health Services Center. We are
also planning for the possibility of transitioning her to home hospice care in January.
This shift would require some in-home caregiving support, which, like her current living
expenses, must be paid out of pocket.
For those who know and love Penny and David, this is a tangible way to offer your
support during a challenging time. They have dedicated their lives to working for peace,
justice, and care for others—work that has always been about impact, not income. Your
contribution will directly support her loving and much needed care. Any amount you can
give will be received with heartfelt gratitude.
Thank you for walking alongside us in this journey,
Joshua Mann (son), Lucas LeardMann (son), and Connie Green (dear friend, Pilgrim
Place resident supporting us through this process)
