Peggy is one of the kindest people I know—someone whose first instinct is always to help others. She is the friend who volunteers at her kids’ school, bakes treats to lift someone’s spirits, and welcomes people into her home when they need a place to stay. Caring for others isn’t something Peggy does occasionally; it’s simply who she is.
When my kidneys failed and I needed a port in my chest, I wasn’t even allowed to shower. Without hesitation, Peggy offered to come to my house and wash my hair—just one small act that speaks volumes about the kind of person she is. Peggy always shows up for the people she loves. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
A few years ago, Peggy began experiencing severe pain in her ears and nose. Doctors initially believed it was a sinus issue, and she endured multiple surgeries trying to fix the problem. Sadly, the true cause of her pain was overlooked. Eventually, doctors discovered that cerebral fluid had been leaking into her brain, requiring yet another serious surgery to repair it.
Throughout this ordeal, Peggy followed her doctors’ recommendations, including taking steroids to prevent further complications. Unfortunately, a devastating side effect of those medications was the development of advanced cataracts. Despite being told she was being monitored, Peggy now has cataracts in both eyes. Her surgery is scheduled for mid-May, and even with insurance, the out-of-pocket cost will be well over $13,000.
This has been an incredibly difficult year for Peggy and her family, emotionally, physically, and financially. I know times are hard for many of us, but if you are able to give—even a small amount—it would help ease the burden on someone who has spent her life easing the burdens of others.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for helping lift Peggy up during this challenging time. Your support truly means more than words can express.
