On November 19th, his birthday, Pedro was diagnosed with Hepatosplenic T-cell Lymphoma. It is an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and requires an aggressive treatment plan. Unfortunately, the treatment is also costly.
Pedro was sick for over a month and had to visit multiple hospitals for them to finally determine what was wrong. Pedro was eventually admitted to Rush Hospital to undergo an aggressive form of chemotherapy. Chemotherapy requires multiple rounds of treatment before he can undergo a bone marrow transplant.
Pedro has 3 young children and a wife that he was the primary source of income for. The illness has been not just hard physically and emotionally on Pedro but also on his family. With him being sick, his wife has had to try and balance caring for a sick husband, taking care of 3 children, and also find a way to pay for the medical treatment needed.
The multiple hospital visits prior to the diagnosis, multiple chemotherapy treatments, and the eventual bone marrow transplant have caused a financial strain on Pedro and his family.
We have created this GoFundMe campaign in an effort to help him and his family alleviate some of the financial burden.
Update: Unfortunately on September 5th Pedro and his family got news that no one wants to hear. A bone marrow biopsy showed that his cancer has returned. Pedro is currently fighting and going through more rounds of treatments. Pedro is still unable to return to work due to treatment. Please consider donating to help with this heavy financial burden.
