Last summer, Pearl started exhibiting facial paralysis and pain. After seeking medical attention and an MRI, she was told she had Bell's palsy. Upon worsening symptoms, she had a more recent, higher resolution MRI showing a 1.6 cm tumor growing in the temporal bone that was missed in the initial scan.

She is seeing a neuro-otologist through the U of M who has scheduled surgery on June 15th to remove and biopsy the tumor with treatment following.

Unfortunately, due to missing the tumor in the MRI from last summer, Pearl has had to take off many days of work as her pain became chronic and attended numerous appointments with different specialists until they diagnosed her appropriately.

Additionally, Pearl will have to recover for 6-8 weeks and, leading up to her surgery, is working part-time.

The medical bills are already starting to stack, and although insurance and FMLA resources are being utilized, financial support in this time is needed.

We are setting a goal of $20k that will go towards medical bills for her past and future doctor visits, surgery, and treatment. Pearl lives independently, so the fundraising will also go towards her monthly bills, including rent, while she is out of work recovering for the summer.

Pearl does so much for her community and is such a light in our lives. The next few months will be tough on her, but with a support system and a plan, we can try to make it easier.
