Update Sunday 5/11/25
What an intense week it has been. Mom has been so strong and faithful. Lots of tears. They were from pain and emotion. She’s never quit moving and this injury has about completely stopped her physically. Family as well as a friend have come to my house to help me and to visit with mom. This has helped tremendously.
Her ortho appointment went as expected with both X-Ray and MRI being needed. She has a lot going on in her knee. They found a break that the x-ray did not pick up, the top of her tibia is cracked and the ligament that attaches to the tibia, has completely ripped off as well as another ligament. She has a torn meniscus and and a partially torn ligament. There was a large cyst on the back of her knee that burst right after her fall; which the doctor said, explains the cramping in her leg and foot because her body is trying to absorb the fluid. He suggested to treat it conservatively to begin with and keep her in a fixed brace with bars and a steroid shot for 6 to 8 weeks. He said she will not be able to work during that time. If that doesn't work, they would try a gel injection, and if that doesn't work, her surgery option is full knee replacement.
We are going to use this time that she is unable to work to try and address some other more private health issues. She had been putting her health on the back burner so she could continue to work. Mother’s Day for her started with the hope she wouldn’t be in bed all day. Although she couldn’t quite make it but a few feet past the front door, she was able to sing and worship in the sun before laying back down.
Thank you to all of her family and friends who have supported financially and in prayer. She is blessed.

Hey y'all my name is Ashley.
My mother Peaches fell yesterday while leaving the thrift store after our coffee and thrifting date. We had the sweetest morning but the rain came in right as she was headed to her car for work. (She was parked around the corner at the coffee shop.) I called her to make sure she got to the car okay, and she answered crying that she had fallen.
A kind gentlemen helped me get her to the car and when she said she couldn't drive I knew it wasn't any regular fall. She landed on her knee, wrist and her face (busted lip) hit the ground as well.
She is now at my house resting and waiting for her appointment and imaging with the orthopedic surgeon. That appointment will most certainly end in a surgery referral.
I am reaching out to her community. While you may not know me, most folks from this area know and love Peaches. She has been serving this community for 40 years. She donates her time to cut hair for those in need, she gives any resources she has and always goes the extra mile for a stranger. She’s truly a light wherever she walks and needs to get back up to shine!
