Pathways Development Initiative (PDI) is a non-profit organization based in Bududa, Uganda, that works to create a"community free from extreme poverty and deprivation to a life of self-sufficiency and dignity." PDI's initiatives are focused on empowering youth through education, community programs, and sports. One of PDI’s most impactful efforts is its youth football (soccer) program, which brings together boys and girls from across the region to learn, compete, and grow both on and off the field. PDI also runs a schooling program for children of all ages, a nutrition and sustainable farming program, and holistic experiential learning opportunities in music and the arts.

With the help of dedicated local coaches, PDI has built more than just teams; it’s built opportunity. Several players have already earned scholarships that allow them to continue their education and athletic development, creating brighter futures for themselves and their families. Among the girls’ teams, the program has also helped significantly reduce teen pregnancy rates, proving how sports can change lives far beyond the game.

With that said, Bududa is an extremely poor area, and the challenges are real. The community faces frequent heavy rain that causes equipment to wear out quickly, and many players train without proper gear during practice or matches. Despite these hardships, the players’ talent, determination, and love for the game continues to shine.

All donations will go directly toward new equipment and providing further opportunities for students and student-athletes. Since the end of USAID and other international financing services from the United States, PDI has really been struggling. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide these incredible young players with the resources they need to succeed and continue building a better future for themselves and their community.
