Hi! I’m Pax. This February, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and severe polyneuropathy as a result of said diabetes. Initially, I’d been experiencing severe leg pain, but held off on contacting a doctor due to financial concerns. Eventually, it became too much to bear and I went to the ER. I was found to have a blood sugar of over 700, and an A1C of 14. All things considered, I was lucky to not be in a coma. The road to recovery has been difficult, and unfortunately, the nerve damage is permanent and it will be months before the near-debilitating pain levels out into something manageable. The costs for care are climbing, and my income barely covers my housing at the moment. I’ve missed quite a bit of work, and I’m currently struggling to function enough to make up for it. Absolutely any amount would help immensely as I adjust to a new lifestyle and the needs that come with it.
