Hi friends!

I’ve just paid my deposit for Facial Feminization Surgery on July 1st with Dr Cardenas at TransOp in Guadalajara. This is a huge step in my transition and one that I’ve been in the process of taking for a little under a year, and considering for the last five years. I previously had a surgery date set for February 24th at the University of Iowa, until that surgery was denied by my insurance. Following through with that surgeon would have cost me nearly $30k which didn’t seem feasible so we have made a big pivot.

The total cost of my upcoming surgery with TransOp is just under 20k. Having already paid the $2400 deposit and w/ some financial support from my family & my bf we’ve brought the remaining amount needed by July to around $11.5k. This is a lot of money that I can’t account for on my own, so I’m reaching out here for community support. I’m incredibly grateful for whatever support I receive in pursuit of this life-changing procedure.

I have been in the process of medical transition for about seven years now. My desires for surgical intervention have always been limited both by the associated costs and logistics and ultimately, by fear. As the conditions for trans people in the US and abroad grow increasingly dire, I have decided that fear can no longer be a factor in my decision making as I pursue a life lived fully and authentically as the woman I have always known myself to be.
