Paws is more than a shelter; it is a family. It all started with the wish of a teenage boy, who lives in Africa, to help street dogs. His dream of building a rescue in Mityana started in 2022 when Isaac moved in with his four rescued dogs. Within days, 14 more dogs were saved from the cruel streets and given a home. Knowing that there were 9 kids, ages 9-15, living on the streets as well prompted us to invite them into the newly built home. Although it is so small, it is special. Our rescue is like no other because, in a land where kids are taught to harm and fear dogs, we are showing them how to love, trust, and raise them. Little lives saving each other now that they have a safe place to call home. Prossy, Muttibwa, Denis, Godfrey, Agatha, Moses, Betty, Gabbie, and Harriett now share one room and have pups to love. Because they had a secure home, they are qualified to attend school, which is a huge privilege. Now that this young loving family has a home to thrive, we are raising funds to pay the tuition balance, school supplies, and craft supplies. This week, these creative kids will start making bracelets to raise more funds for the daily expenses and to buy the land next to the rescue so they can grow larger crops and give the dogs a place to run and play. These kids already clean their local church to earn money for half of their schooling tuition. Their hearts are so full, feeling like normal kids for the first time in their lives.
