Help Rebuild the Hamburg Pound After the Christmas Day Fire

On Christmas Day, a heartbreaking tragedy struck our community when a fire destroyed the Hamburg animal pound. What should have been a day of warmth and celebration became a day of loss—for the animals who relied on this shelter and for everyone who works tirelessly to protect them.

PAWS Friends of the Hamburg Pound exists to support these animals, and right now that support is needed more than ever. The pound was more than a building—it was a lifeline for abandoned, lost, and vulnerable animals waiting for safety, care, and a second chance.

The fire caused extensive damage, destroying kennels, equipment, supplies, and critical areas needed for daily operations. While emergency efforts helped save lives, the road to recovery will take time, resources, and community support.

Funds raised will go toward:

• Rebuilding and repairing the Hamburg Pound

• Replacing kennels, fencing, and essential equipment

• Restocking medical and animal care supplies

• Supporting temporary housing and care for displaced animals
