Hi! I’m Paulina Tobar, many of you know me as Pau. I’m a Chilean stage manager based in NYC.

I’ve been living in NYC for 8 years now and I am in the process of getting my O-1 visa (AKA artist visa) renewed so I can stay 3 more years to keep stage managing, keep building memories with my friends, and keep living my dream because, yes, I am already living my dream by working on what I love the most.

Honestly, I have a hard time asking for favors or help (I’m working on it), so for me, doing this is HUGE. But this time, I am here, typing these words and with a hand on my heart, asking for your help.

As you may know, the visa process is very expensive, and I am having trouble affording it. For the sake of transparency, I will tell you what I need to pay for. All the money will go towards the following:

1. Lawyers: $3,800

2. I-129 Petition Fee: $460

3. Premium Processing Fee: $2,805 (this is to expedite the process; otherwise, I would have to wait for 9+ months to know if I’m approved/denied)

4. Personal Press: $775 (USCIS asks for personal press as proof of my “extraordinary ability”; therefore, my lawyers are asking me to collect 4-5 articles about my career)

TOTAL: $7,840
