Support Paul’s High support needs Move and Vet Care

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

I am writing to request support for our friend Paul (Grax), a valued member of the Twin Cities music and Twitch communities.

Paul is facing a high-needs move that requires help to cover overdue veterinary care for the senior cat he and his partner adopted and accessibility requirements related to their disabilities. We're asking for $8,000 to start, and will share updates if vet or unforeseen costs are higher than this. Your contribution will help ensure this transition is safe and manageable during a challenging time.

You can give here, or send donations via Venmo @PaulJTreiber or cash app $graxanov.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

With immense gratitude and hope, we are asking you for your help to raise funds to support Paul Treiber (aka Grax) and his partner (who lives in Seattle), to cover our health accomodation needs and relocation costs.

Paul's move must happen during or before the first week of April. Your donations will help them cover out-of-pocket costs including:

•Travel (for Paul and the cats, as they will be driving from the Twin Cities to Seattle)

•An RV to make the trip in (we’re unable to afford to stay in hotels that charge a pet fee, and the motels that do not charge a pet fee are historically unclean and uncomfortable, not to mention health needs that take us off the road more often than we would like would be solved by being self-contained, having to wake up in time to check out while living with chronic health issues, etc)

•Compensation for anyone we may need to hire to help with packing or moving

•Vet care for our two cats, including overdue care for our senior lady, Kiku, who may need dental care to prevent further complications down the road

•Other basic needs for the trip such as fuel and potential campsite fees

A little background:

This harrowing financial journey began in 2021, when I was first let go from my job, brought on by overextending myself. I had committed to too much time helping others as a moderator on Twitch and not enough time working. I poured myself into gaming and my commitments on Twitch. By 2021 I had begun to feel trapped. Meanwhile, for nearly 15 years, I had stopped treatment for my bipolar disorder, including my prescription medication. In 2023, I was hospitalized after experiencing severe symptoms and have since been taking my prescriptions as directed. I feel my emotions much less than I used to, so that it leaves me feeling flat. And while I am grateful that my psych meds are keeping me stable, the side effects have made it very difficult and challenging to live a normal, happy life and stripped me of my former energetic, hard-working, and active self.

Enter my work sister, Ronica! Ronica and I first met about 11 years ago at Cargill, where we worked together in Hopkins. As we bonded over video games and karaoke, I immediately knew there was something special about her, and I now consider her my sister. We created great memories together, including meeting composer Nobuo Uematsu after a concert of his music. That and the Vikings vs Saints divisional playoff we saw together were the highlights of 2018 for me!

Then, in October 2024, when I was in endless job search for almost 4 years and kept coming up with nothing, Ronica came through again! She introduced me to the man who hired me in February 2025. A few months later, we adopted two adult cats, a mother and her son. They are my first pets, and they have brought me so much joy. I worked for that insurance company for 7 months, but ultimately it was not a good fit. By September 2025 I was let go. When my condo was foreclosed in October of 2025, I knew that I was going to have to try something different. In the meantime, I have done my best to try and find another job, but it felt futile and I've been overwhelmed to say the least.

I am so grateful for everyone’s support, and any donation of any amount helps ensure the best possible outcome for this long-distance move.

If you are unable to donate, we hope you’ll consider sharing and spreading the word.

With gratitude and love,
Paul "Grax" Treiber
