There are moments in life when asking for help becomes unavoidable.
My husband Paul urgently needs a heart bypass operation. What was first expected to be resolved with stents has now been revealed as something more serious. There's too many arterial obstructions and too little time. Because we recently moved countries, unfortunately we fall between health insurance systems. Therefore this life-saving surgery isn’t covered. There's no time to go through the administration process of the Spanish or UK public health system. Paul has also had to cancel all his TV and music shows until July of this year, creating a sudden and significant gap in our income.
There's two paths for support, both leading to the same place.

Het blijkt dat GoFundMe voor mensen in Nederland slechts beperkte betaalmogelijkheden aanbiedt.
Omdat Luna al 15 jaar niet meer in Nederland woont, kan zij zelf geen Nederlands betaalverzoek (zoals iDEAL) aan de campagne koppelen.

Why isn’t this covered by insurance?
Paul hadn’t been with our current health insurance long enough, and once his heart condition was diagnosed, the insurer cancelled the policy immediately, meaning this urgent surgery isn’t covered.
