Support Paul’s Cancer Battle & Urgent Medical Needs

On April 29, everything changed for Paul and Linda. What began as an ordinary day quickly turned into a medical emergency when Paul nearly collapsed at work. He went to the ER later that day and was diagnosed with severe anemia. After undergoing numerous tests, receiving two blood transfusions, and spending four days in the hospital, Paul received a life-altering diagnosis: colorectal cancer.

Since then, Paul has met with several specialists and began preliminary testing. Unfortunately, further testing and treatment have been delayed due to a lack of health insurance. Unable to continue working, Paul was forced to leave the job he had held for many years and take early retirement. This difficult decision resulted in a reduced household income by two-thirds. It’s the only path forward to receiving the care he urgently needs. To protect Paul’s eligibility for Medicaid, his wife Linda is also unable to work, as even a modest income could jeopardize his coverage.

Paul’s treatment plan is expected to span 8 to 9 months. He will begin with radiation and oral chemotherapy, followed by chemotherapy delivered through a port. Due to the tumor’s location, surgery is being avoided for now to prevent the risk of permanent damage. While the outcome remains uncertain, one thing is clear: Paul and his wife cannot face this battle alone.

The financial burden is overwhelming:
• Over $15,000 in medical bills from the first month alone.
• A $2,500/month shortfall in essential living expenses for the next two months as they await the start of retirement benefits.
• Continued uncertainty about future medical and living costs.

Paul and Linda never expected to be in this position, and we are humbly asking for your help. Every donation—no matter the size—will make a tangible difference in their lives. If you are unable to give, simply sharing this story can help them reach more people who might be able to assist.

Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and compassion during this incredibly challenging time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Scott and Denice Gerard
