Calling on our village!

As some of you may know, Pauline was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in June. She had surgery to remove the tumor in July and began chemotherapy treatments shortly after that. This is her second cancer diagnosis - having beat breast cancer with radiation and chemo treatments just 5 short years ago.

In 2023, Pauline moved from Fitchburg to Western Mass to be closer to her daughters and grandkids. The past two years having them so close has been absolutely incredible. We’ve had slumber parties on the living room floor, neighborhood Halloween celebrations, and endless fun on the ninja warrior course Dad built for the grandkids. The kids in the neighborhood enjoy it, too!

Packing up and leaving the place you called home for almost 40 years is not easy. Further from friends and family, they put their entire selves into being the greatest parents and grandparents ever. They have become part of our community - going to swim lessons, soccer games, school plays, and open houses.

Cancer comes with many unexpected medical bills. Unfortunately, her health insurance is only covering a percentage of the medical treatment. With another 3 months of chemo treatments ahead, we are calling on the power of our community to lessen the financial stress during such a challenging time.

Pauline has always been the caregiver of our elders. She is the light and love to so many, often overextending herself to others when they are in need. She has been loyal and generous to friends and family her entire life.

Now it’s our turn.
