Support Paul Nave's Battle Against Stage IV Stomach Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Betty Glynn, and I'm reaching out for support for my cousin, Paul Nave, who has been diagnosed with Stage IV Signet Ring Cell Gastric Cancer. This rare, very aggressive stomach cancer is associated with a hereditary genetic mutation named CDH1, making it even more frightening for Paul and his entire family.

Paul is the proud father of four wonderful adult sons. He’s a grandfather, brother, son, boyfriend, grandson, nephew, cousin and a favorite to so many. While he has many hobbies one of his ultimate favorites is his time boating. Sadly, his boating season with friends and family was nearly nonexistent this year due to being far too sick.

After several months of battling stomach issues and testing, Paul received his diagnosis of stage IV stomach cancer. Unable to keep food and liquids down, he has spent much of this time in hospitals. The Northwestern oncology team has now developed a treatment plan to slow down his debilitating symptoms, but the aggressive nature of this cancer makes the treatment very challenging.

Paul, a small independent business owner and contractor, has been unable to work for the past few months. This lack of income has created another terrifying aspect of this illness. The rapid spiral of events has brought a new reality with no going back to how things were before.

Despite the challenges, we are hopeful that Paul will respond well to chemotherapy. We have confidence in the Northwestern oncology team and hope that the treatment plan will alleviate some of his pain and inability to eat or drink.

Paul is proud and private so sharing his diagnosis has been exceptionally painful, but he needs support. Tragically, Paul lost his first cousin, Eric Bernabei, to stomach cancer last year. Eric was only 40 years old. He also lost his uncle eight months ago who we now know carried the CDH1 gene mutation. CDH1 has caused other family battles and losses, adding to the immense fear and heartbreak.

I’m so proud of Paul as he has been facing his diagnosis with bravery, grace and determination. The love and support from his girlfriend Nicole, his sons, grandchildren, and family have been a true reminder of the importance of being "Nave Strong".

The funds collected will be primarily used for his mortgage, associated household costs, living expenses, travel to appointments and medical expenses. All of which are weighing heavily on his mind. When Paul is feeling good, we would love for him to be able to check off a few bucket list items he has.

We are deeply grateful for any support you can provide for Paul during this challenging time. Your generosity will help Paul focus on his treatment, recovery and give him hope to continue staying strong for a beautiful future.
