Support Paul Manaut's Battle with FTD
Donation protected
Since his diagnosis in 2020, our dad, Paul Manaut, has been courageously battling Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), a rare and incurable neurodegenerative disease. FTD causes profound changes in behavior, personality, language, and movement.
Paul grew up in Hawaii Kai, Oahu. He fully embraced the Aloha spirit through his love of the ocean, nature, and his innate care for others. He found his calling early as a lifeguard on Oahu’s South Shore, eventually becoming a paramedic, nurse practitioner, and educator. Throughout his life, Paul dedicated himself to helping others while always putting his wife and four daughters first — the ultimate "girl dad."
Jani, his wife, has since taken on the role of his primary caregiver, a responsibility that is both enormous and unimaginable. At this advanced stage, the care Paul needs has become more intensive, requiring 24/7 attention, which has become increasingly costly.
We are reaching out for support, hoping to provide our dad with the care and quality of life he deserves. Asking for help is never easy, but we are deeply grateful for your kindness, generosity, and for being part of Paul's journey.
We are grateful for the research team at UCSF who is dedicated to finding a cure for this aggressive form of dementia. Our dad was more than happy to be part of this amazing research program to hopefully find a cure.
Thank you,
