For forty years, Paul Kline has made the Vail Valley his home. After moving from Washington State, Paul began framing houses with his uncle, who was his mentor at the time. He eventually started his own business, taking on increasingly complex projects and executing them with meticulous attention to detail.

Paul has played a significant role in building our community, quite literally. Many houses in Vail and Beaver Creek showcase Paul's craftsmanship and dedication to quality. Anyone familiar with Paul's work recognizes it as nothing short of art. Paul leads a very active lifestyle, excelling in cycling—he even set a record in the '80s for the fastest completion of Vail Pass. He also enjoys cross-country skiing, hiking, and participating in various activities with his children and grandchildren.

At the end of July, Paul will undergo open-heart surgery to replace his ascending aorta, repair a dysfunctional aortic valve caused by a congenital abnormality, and clean up deep calcification in his myocardium. This major surgery will significantly impact Paul's life. Although he will be able to return to his active lifestyle post-recovery, he will no longer be able to perform heavy lifting, which is devastating news for a carpenter. This procedure with force Paul to leave his lifelong career behind and start a new chapter.

The financial burden of this news is immense for the Kline family. The cost of living in the Vail Valley, coupled with the high expenses of medical care and the lengthy recovery period, presents significant financial challenges.
