On November 16, 2025, Paul Blair’s life changed in an instant. A fall down a flight of stairs caused a severe head and neck injury, resulting in a cervical spinal cord injury that left him a quadriplegic. He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where orthopedic and neurosurgical teams worked urgently to stabilize him and save his life.

What followed was a long and harrowing hospital course. Paul underwent major cervical spinal fusion surgery and required a tracheostomy to help him breathe, a feeding tube (PEG) to receive nutrition, and a suprapubic catheter to manage bladder function. Though these interventions were necessary, they marked the beginning of an entirely new and difficult reality.

Paul faced multiple life-threatening complications during his hospitalization. He developed acute respiratory failure and became dependent on a mechanical ventilator. His right lung collapsed, and excess fluid built up around both lungs, making breathing even more difficult. He required repeated bronchoscopies and intensive respiratory treatments to keep his airways clear. His body was further strained by acute kidney injury and significant blood loss anemia, requiring close monitoring and ongoing medical support. Doctors also raised concerns about a possible bone infection, adding yet another challenge to his recovery.

On December 20, 2025, Paul suffered a cardiac arrest. In a moment that could have ended everything, medical staff acted immediately. After two minutes of CPR, his heartbeat was restored. Paul survived—but the road ahead became even steeper.

Today, Paul continues to fight every day. Once independent, he now requires full-time care, specialized medical equipment, rehabilitation, and ongoing treatment. The emotional, physical, and financial toll on Paul and those who love him has been overwhelming.

We are raising funds to help cover medical expenses, rehabilitation services, adaptive equipment, home modifications, and basic living needs that insurance does not fully cover. Most of all, we are asking for support to help Paul maintain dignity, comfort, and the best possible quality of life as he navigates this new chapter.

Every donation, prayer, and share matters. Thank you for standing with Paul and helping carry him through this journey of survival, resilience, and hope.
