We are starting a Go Fund Me in hopes of helping Patty beat cancer. Patty is a wife, mom and grandmother. She is caring, giving, and has this light about her that makes everyone around her smile and laugh.
Patty was diagnosed in January of 2023 with squamous cell carcinoma that metastasized to her lung. Over the last two years Patty has fought with every ounce of her being to win this battle. She has been in severe pain hitting almost a level 7 on the pain scale daily. Her treatment began right away at Aurora. Her tumor was shrinking and we had some great hope! Unfortunately they were not able to completely kill the cancer. She was given an opinion that this may be uncurable. Even with that news Patty was not done fighting. She then turned to two holistic treatment centers. She did one in home holistic treatment and another for 3 months in Illinois.
Surgery was not an option as the tumor is entangled in nerves, a lymph node, lung, and ribs. Despite these treatments, the tumor grew, pushing on her spine (which ended her holistic treatments). In June of 2024 her spine was broken by the pressure the tumor, resulting in an very intense spinal surgery. The surgeon would not have recommended his own mother to undergo this surgery, but Patty knew this was her only chance at continuing to fight. 16 weeks later, Patty underwent intestinal surgery. She was in and out of Froedtert hospital with complications and unmanageable pain. Patty continued with another round of chemo and radiation through Froedtert. Complications continued, but this never stopped Patty from being the light of room. She never gave up hope and continues to fight.
After getting a sample of the tumor, the medical team has come up with a potential cure. This is a new treatment plan to target the Trop 2 cancer cells . Patty has started this treatment in March 2025. She is one of the first people in the United Sates to be given this new treatment.
The tumor is now pushing on Patty's esophagus causing swallowing issues. She has undergone another surgery in April of 2025 for a feeding tube to help regain strength as she continues to fight.
Family, friends, and neighbors have all been assisting with around the clock with care at home, but at this point Patty is going to need more advanced care.
We are reaching out for help financially to cover costs of in home care and continued medical costs as well as prayers for Patty.
Once Patty beats this, any money left over will be donated to help others in similar situations as her own. The Froedtert Clinical Trial center/ and Oncology department has not given up on Patty and neither are we! They have continued to pursue different treatment options that have kept her with us. If for them not giving up, we may not have made it this far to have this chance at a possible cure! We want to give as much back to those departments as we can to show our appreciation for all they have done to BEAT this cancer!
Thank you all so much.
