Hi everyone,
If you're here, it's likely because our beloved mom, Patti, has touched your life in some way. Whether as a friend, mentor, neighbor, or simply someone whose warmth, resilience, and kindness made an impression—thank you for showing up for her now.
We’re organizing this fundraiser together, as her daughters, to help support her through the most difficult chapter of her cancer journey.
In late 2023, our mom found a lump and was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2024. She made the brave decision to undergo a double mastectomy that March, and we were so relieved when a PET scan in June showed she was completely clear. But her recovery wasn’t easy—she experienced lingering chest pain that never quite went away. She had another surgery in April 2025.
Soon after, her instincts told her something still wasn’t right, as the recovery from the second surgery was going quite poorly, as she suffered from extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, and overall body pain. She advocated for another PET scan in June 2025—and that's when we received heartbreaking news. The cancer had returned and spread to her lymph nodes, lungs, and bones. It is now classified as stage four.
Despite everything, our mom continues to face each day with incredible courage, grace, and determination. While she has always embraced a holistic approach to healing, she has made the decision to begin oral chemotherapy and targeted radiation—treatments that offer a chance to extend her time with us while keeping side effects manageable. She’s also continuing naturopathic therapies to support her overall health and relieve symptoms.
These treatments are not a temporary solution—this will be a lifelong plan. Even with Medicare, oral chemo is extremely expensive, and naturopathic care is not covered by insurance at all. The financial burden is heavy and ongoing.
Our goal with this fundraiser is to help ease that burden so our mom can focus on healing, finding relief from pain, and spending meaningful time with the people who love her most—especially her first grandchild, lovingly nicknamed Snowby, who we’re so excited to welcome this winter.
If you're able to contribute—whether it's financially, by sharing this page, or by keeping her in your thoughts—we are deeply grateful.
With love and thanks,
Anna & Keiko (and all of us—Ken, Patti, Brent, Casy, and baby Snowby)
