On September 14th, our friend and colleague Patti Schmidt found out that her breast cancer has resurfaced and metastasized.  She now finds herself undergoing treatment to fight cancer once again.  This time, the treatments are more aggressive in terms of frequency and she is needing to take time off to manage through.  Her chemo treatments will be ongoing for 3 to 4 months.  Unfortunately Florida, where Patti resides, doesn’t have a state disability program and Cerus’ disability program has a 30 day waiting period.
