Pat is a beloved member of the Appalachian community. She is a truly kind mother, sister, teacher, talented hairstylist, and a loving friend. Pat had a heart attack 2 weeks ago and found out that she has 3 blockages in two arteries in her heart. The blockages are in areas that, unfortunately, make it too dangerous to perform stent procedures. Pat will have to undergo open-heart surgery in Charlotte instead. She has been to 4 different hospitals in the last week, undergone countless tests, and is on a long road to recovery. This has been a long, expensive process, and the journey has only just begun. Pat will be out of work for at least 2 months and her primary caregiver will be unable to work for weeks following her surgery. We know that Pat is very loved, and we appreciate any and all help that could aid her in her recovery.
