Support Pat's Fight: Help with His Recovery

As many of you know Pat battled Diffuse Large B Cell lymphoma in 2018.

This past April 2024, he was re-diagnosed with the same lymphoma.

Since June, 2024, Pat has received treatment at VCU’s Massey Cancer Center.

Over the summer, he received spinal taps with low level chemotherapy, radiation and weekly infusions. As the treatment continued, his infusions were reduced from weekly to bi-monthly and he currently receives infusions twice a month.

Pat has responded well to the treatments, and the disease is currently low in his system.

The next stage of his treatment plan is stem cell transplant. This begins in January, 2025. During this process, Pat will be hospitalized for a month and then will need to be isolated in a sterile environment for 6 months. Because of this, Pat and Erin will relocate to Richmond. They will be renting a house while he isolates, recovers and rebuilds his immune system.

I started this GoFundMe to support Pat during his hospitalization and 6 month isolation to help provide food for Pat to recover. Because of his strict needs in terms of cleanliness and sterile environment, food preparation and planning is time consuming and at times difficult. For example, Pat cannot eat out at restaurants, no DoorDash or deliveries, nor can he accept food prepared from a friend. Each meal will have to be prepared by them. To alleviate the stress of this, meal plans that are nutritious and organic such as SunBasket and/or Green Chef are great companies that will provide less stress for Pat and Erin as they embark on this journey.

During his recovery time, please feel free to reach out to him! Pat should be able to see guests once he is out of the hospital. Please keep in mind that these visits will be outside, involve social distancing and be masked/gloved up until his immune system rebuilds.
