Our mom, Pat, was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. We jumped on testing quickly, and fortunately, her scans show that the cancer has not spread anywhere else in her body. She is still undergoing chemo to be sure it stays that way. For this type of cancer, the recommended course of treatment is 6 months of chemo, followed by a mastectomy.

Mom was ready to face this head-on with our love and support. She started chemo treatments at the beginning of August. She is strong and positive, and we know we will get through this as a family.

Here is where we need support. The chemo treatments are only partially covered by Medicare and will cost $7,000 out-of-pocket. As a senior citizen on a fixed income, this creates a strain on mom's finances, so we have decided to start this GoFundMe to help her.

Anyone who knows our mom knows that she is one of the most selfless, loving, accepting people you will ever meet. Her heart is bigger than most, and she is always willing to help those in need. Now...she needs our help. We don't know how much of the remaining treatment after chemo will be covered by Medicare, but we will deal with that when it's time. For now, our focus is on covering the chemo treatments.

Mom has a long road ahead of her, and we are hoping to relieve some of the financial burden so she has one less thing to worry about. Our family is extremely grateful for any support.
