In late May, my husband Patrick's Traverse blew its engine. We thought it was the alternator, but metal in the oil proved us wrong. Our mechanic says the vehicle is worth saving, but it does need an engine replacement. I am still receiving estimates from mechanics, but it looks like it will be in the $5,000 range -- I've added a bit more in case labor adds up; one place tells me it's a 16-hour job!

I work an hour from home and sometimes can't GET home overnight, if work or weather turn up crazy, so it is vital that he has a way to get around when I am not available.
