Support Patrick's Long Road to Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Megan and I'm asking for donations for my uncle Patrick(far right in picture) and his husband Craig(pictured middle). On July 19, a semi drove down their residential street in Minneapolis where a large branch was hanging and was broken by the top of the semi truck. After the truck was good and gone, the branch fell on my uncle. He laid in the middle of the street at least 20 mins crushed by this branch before getting help.
When Patrick arrived at the hospital, in immense pain, the nurses and doctors decided to place him in a medically induced coma in order to evaluate the extent of his injuries. What they found is extremely overwhelming and we're very lucky he is still alive.
Patrick is suffering with 18 broken ribs, a broken hip, pelvis, femur, ankle, foot, toes. He has a few broken bones in his spine on his lower back and a broken clavicle. He also has some internal bleeding and a brain bleed. He has tubes on both sides of his chest to drain blood and has a breathing tube since breathing in his own is so painful.
Our Patrick, typically a funny, happy go lucky and quirky yet sensitive guy, is not the Patrick we know and love. He has been able to open his eyes and squeeze a hand but for the most part is extremely medicated with some sedation and pain killers. We're just awaiting the day that he is able to sit up, tell a joke, have a laugh or simply just give a hug.
Right now we can expect a lengthy recovery, high probability of recovering in a rehab facility since stairs will not be a possibility for a while. This means more time away from home, from his husband and their dogs.
Please join me in sending positivity and love. Keep Patrick in your thoughts and prayers. And if you can, please help Patrick and Craig during this seemingly impossible time. All donations will be distributed to Pat and Craig to help them get through this, mainly toward medical bills.
Thank you and have a blessed day.
Much love,
