Imagine. Your oldest, best friend calls you one day and tells you that due to cirrhosis of the liver their organ and kidneys are failing. To survive they’ll need an immediate liver transplant and eventually, even a new kidney. It’s a painful gut punch. A scenario of horrible odds that could easily make a grown person cry. If this was your very best friend, what would YOU do? This is what I am doing…

My name is John Morana and my friend Patrick Blackburn has been a close buddy for over 50 years. We go way back to our art school days at NY’s Rochester Institute of Technology. It’s been a long and winding, half-century relationship that’s molded us into the artistic and musical fanatics we are today. Just like in a marriage, close friends can’t help but influence each other’s persona, sense of humor and even their worldview.

But today our views are narrowed. Still steadfast friends, we’re now forced to come to grips with our own mortality.

Thanks to GoFundMe and the compassion of a bunch of very beautiful people, Patrick raised enough money to be able to fly home to Rochester, NY from Las Vegas and start his journey towards a new, healthier life. Thank you!!! He’s already engaged the help of Strong Hospital’s superb organ transplant team and is taking the necessary steps, tests and treatment that will hopefully culminate in a liver transplant and a new chance at life.

Once Patrick’s condition has been stabilized, he’ll be discharged and begin the difficult wait for a liver transplant. In the mean time, Patrick will require housing as he continues ongoing medical testing and therapy. Because he is no longer able to work, we are asking for your financial support to help us acquire suitable housing. This will include the daily assistance and transportation required for his continued medical treatment. We’ve set a goal of $6,000 to cover these housing costs for a three month period.
