It is with a heavy heart that this GoFundMe is being created. It saddens the family to have to ask for funds to assist with the end-of-life care and funeral cost preparation for our loving Patrick Thomas, who has now been placed in hospice.

In case anyone is caught by surprise, just as we still are, Patrick was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

Patrick was experiencing pain and went to the emergency room where he was told that it looked like he might have cancer. After a few tests, scans, and doctor visits, the news no one wants to hear was confirmed. Patrick had cancer that metastasized and was affecting his lungs, liver, and brain. Patrick has been admitted to MSK for almost the last month, and his health has rapidly started declining. Unfortunately, the doctors said there is no treatment or cure available, and Patrick has been placed on hospice. The current plan is for Patrick to go back home on hospice to be with his wife Josie for his final days.

For those of you who know Pat, you know that he will RUN to help out the people he knows and cares about in a heartbeat. Hell’s Kitchen will not be the same without him. Even if he didn’t know you and saw you were in need of help, he would help out because that’s just who he is. He is a gentleman in that way, a kind, caring, loving big mush ball. Even though he might act tough, his heart is made of gold. He loves his family so much and is always trying to make sure they are supported and cared for properly. Patrick was the sole provider in his household.

His wife Josie, his son Jason, his sister Joann Thomas, niece Amy Rose Caldron, brother Joe Thomas and the rest of the family all thank you in advance for any support you can provide during this extremely emotional and difficult time.

I will continue to update this loving, supportive community as Patrick’s status changes.
