Hello! My name is Beck, and I'm helping Patrick, a trans person in the Gorom refugee settlement camp in South Sudan, raise money to survive. Here is what Patrick has to say (slightly edited for clarity):
We have so many challenges: hunger, dangerous insecurities from rebels who are in the country, and discrimination from our fellow refugees who are not queer refugees. Some of us have dangerous diseases, which we can not manage without support because we can't access jobs because of our sexual orientation. We have an ongoing process with the UNHCR, and we expect to travel from this county to a third country, though we don't know when. We can't survive because we don't have jobs as we're waiting for our process to leave the camp.
