On October 2017, our dear cousin Patricia was diagnosed with
Osteosarcoma cancer, which affected the knee area. She was
devastated because she loved to run and was the best on the track
team at school. She endured many surgeries, and in January 2018, she had a surgery where they tried to save her leg by implanting something instead of the bone. She was good for a period of time, then her cancer came back in July 2019. She was raised by a single mom, who then had
to quit her job to take care of her. They were struggling with getting the money for her surgeries, and Patricia was struggling getting up. In
September 2019 the doctor decided to amputate her leg, in order to
save her life. She is now having trouble adapting and getting around.
For now she cannot walk, and is stuck in a wheelchair all day long. She
is supposed to be going to therapy, but due to Corona Virus, and her
cancer, she is not allowed out of the house. She is only 15 years old and has a dream to become a scientist, and discover a cure for cancer. She is a really good student, that is trying her best to keep up with school,
during all these doctor visits. She lives in an apartment, that only has 1 bathroom that is not handicap accessible. She has trouble getting up
and going to the bathroom, and wishes that her bathroom would be
handicap accessible. Unfortunately, her mom does not have the money to make her bathroom handicap accessible, and cannot afford any more surgeries.
