**ACTUALIZACIÓN**

El 16 de junio de 2025, mi madre falleció. Se despertó cerca de media noche pidiendo agua, pero por su mirada, noté que algo no andaba bien. Estaba muy nerviosa y arrastraba las palabras. Supuse que era por la fuerte morfina que estaba tomando, pero cuando mi padre la revisó unas horas después, estaba completamente inconsciente. Seguía viva, pero a duras penas; lo único que la mantenía con vida era su respirador y, para decir la verdad, sus ganas de vivir. Llamamos a nuestros familiares cercanos para que vinieran de inmediato a despedirnos antes de que sucumbiera al cáncer, y los que no estaban cerca se aseguraron de que mi mamá pudiera escucharlos por teléfono. Un sacerdote de nuestra iglesia también vino y se aseguró de que estuviera lista para el cielo. Después de eso, su corazón se detuvo durante un minuto. Todos nos despedimos, pero después de ese minuto, su pulso volvió a la normalidad y pudo estar con nosotros un poco más. Los familiares compartieron historias de los buenos momentos que pasamos con ella y de lo amable y cariñosa que fue con nosotros antes de dar su último aliento y fallecer.

Siempre tuvimos este pensamiento en nuestras mentes, pero nadie puede anticipar realmente esta tragedia. Digo esto no solo para ser transparente con todos sobre nuestra situación, sino también para explicar que cualquier dinero que se recaude se utilizará para cubrir los gastos funerarios, los costos del cementerio, los costos de transporte y, en definitiva, cualquier otro gasto necesario. Hola a todos los familiares y amigos, mi mamá, Patricia Díaz, lamentablemente está pasando por una situación médica difícil. Para quienes no lo sepan, mi mamá tiene cáncer etapa 4 desde septiembre de 2023. Inicialmente, le diagnosticaron cáncer de colon en etapa 3. Recibió quimioterapia y radioterapia para controlarlo lo mejor posible. Sin embargo, el cáncer seguía siendo muy agresivo, tanto que finalmente se extendió al hígado y los pulmones. Alrededor de agosto de 2024, le diagnosticaron cáncer de colon etapa 4. También ingresó en urgencias 5 veces en los últimos 10 meses porque, entre otras complicaciones, como una colostomía y un drenaje de absceso, el dolor del cáncer era insoportable con el medicamento que fue recetado para ella. Aún tiene muchas ganas de vivir, la situación sigue siendo muy crítica debido a los costos médicos, las facturas y el alquiler que nos están causando problemas.

Hacemos todo lo posible para que pase un momento inolvidable y lleno de esperanzas, pero es increíblemente difícil ver a seres queridos sufriendo constantemente y sin poder hacer nada. Además, estamos tratando todos los tratamientos posibles para que se mantenga con vida. También hay ensayos clínicos que estamos considerando, pero son muy costosos. **UPDATE**

On June 16, 2025, my mom unfortunately passed away, she awoke in the middle of the night asking for water but I could tell from her eyes that something wasn’t right, she was very frantic, and was slurring her words, I assumed it was the strong Morphine she was one but when my dad checked on her a few hours later, she was completely unresponsive. She was still alive but barely, the only thing keeping her alive was her ventilator and truth be told, her will to live. We called over our nearby family to come over immediately and say goodbye before she succumbed to her cancer, and the ones who weren’t nearby made sure that my mom could hear them over the phone. A priest from our church came over too and made sure that she was ready for the afterlife, and after that is when her heart stopped for about a minute, we all said our goodbyes, but after that minute, her pulse came back to life and she was able to be with us a little longer. Family members shared stories of the good times we had with her and how kind and endearing she was with us before ultimately giving her last breath and passing away.

While this thought was always in the back of our heads, no one can ever truly anticipate this tragedy. I say this to not only be transparent with everyone about our situation, but also to explain that any money going further will be used to fund funeral expenses, cemetery costs, transportation costs, and finally any further expenses needed. **OLD POST**

Hi everyone, my mom, Patricia Diaz, is unfortunately going through a tough medical situation. To those who may be unaware my mom has Stage 4 Colon cancer and has had cancer since September 2023. Initially, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon cancer. She went through rounds of chemotherapy and radiation to control the cancer as much as possible. However, the cancer was still very aggressive, so much so that eventually the cancer ended up spreading to her liver and lungs. Around August 2024, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon cancer. She also was admitted to the ER 5 times in the past 10 months because, among other complications such as a colostomy operation, and an abscess drain operation, the pain from the cancer was too much to bear with normal medication alone. While she still has a lot of will to live, the situation is still very critical because of the fact that medical costs, bills, as well as rent are causing us to struggle.

We do our best to show her the best time and shower her with love but it's incredibly difficult to see people you care about in constant pain, and being helpless in the matter. Furthermore, we are doing everything in our power to make her comfortable and keep her living as long as she can. There are clinical trials, however they are very costly and time consuming to obtain. Any amount you can donate will be sincerely appreciated and will be used solely for either her treatment or expenses.
