My name is Patrice, and I’m reaching out to you during one of the most challenging periods of my life. In November 2022, my life took an unexpected and painful turn when I was involved in a car accident as a passenger. The aftermath has been a whirlwind of medical struggles and personal hardships that have left me physically, emotionally, and financially drained.

The car accident resulted in a cascade of serious health issues. I was diagnosed with papilledema and pseudotumor cerebri (IIH), a condition that has led to ongoing memory loss, concentration difficulties, vision changes, ongoing headaches, and the need for two lumbar punctures. Despite being on a diuretic and undergoing constant treatment, my daily life remains a challenge. Because of those challenges there is an option to do surgery and place stents in my brain to drain the fluid faster so I will not permanently lose eyesight and the headaches will become more manageable. I previously underwent a cervical disc replacement surgery due to spinal stenosis. Although this procedure was meant to alleviate my suffering, I continue to experience severe pain, nerve pain, stiffness, and a limited range of motion. To add to my struggles, I have spondylolisthesis and a bulging disc in my lumbar spine, which causes numbness and tingling down my legs and feet, forcing me to rely on a cane for support. With everything happening, my doctors felt it was essential to address my severe anemia as part of my overall healing process. Anemia can impact the body’s ability to recover, so I received an iron infusion in March 2023 to help boost my levels. Unfortunately, I had a severe reaction and went into anaphylaxis, which was a frightening experience. Despite that, my doctors believed that iron infusions were still necessary, so they attempted another one in October 2024 with a different brand of iron. This time, they took additional precautions, giving me preventive medications and a test dose. Despite these efforts, I suffered anaphylaxis again and am still dealing with ongoing issues from it.

These complications add another layer of challenges, both physically and financially, as I work through this intense journey toward recovery.

The physical and emotional toll of my medical issues has unfortunately led to the loss of both my job and my home. Despite these setbacks, I am determined to turn my life around and follow a long-held dream of mine: becoming a voice actor. I believe that pursuing this dream can provide me with a sense of purpose and a renewed outlook on life.

To make this dream a reality, I have the opportunity to attend the "That's Voiceover Career Expo 2024" in Los Angeles this December. This expo is a crucial step in building my career in voice acting, offering valuable workshops, networking opportunities, and the chance to connect with industry professionals. My idol, Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson) will be the keynote speaker, and it has always been my dream to meet her. However, attending this event involves costs that are currently beyond my reach, including flight, hotel accommodation, and tickets for some of the expo’s events.

I am reaching out to you, hoping for your support to help cover these expenses and make this dream a reality. Your contribution, no matter the size, will not only assist me in attending this important event but also help me regain a sense of hope and direction in my life.
