Family and friends,
I have started this account as a way to help my dad and stepmom cover medical expenses. In January Pat was diagnosed with the Shingles virus and soon after she began to have more severe complications due to a brain infection. At first, we thought she had a stroke, then symptoms of multiple sclerosis; however, after seeing a neurologist and several months in the hospital, she was finally diagnosed as having a brain infection due to the Shingle virus. This infection has affected her ability to eat, breath, walk, move her arms and legs and her ability to speak. It’s been a long road to diagnosis. And the recovery does not have an end date, it could be several more months before we see big improvements. In June, Pat was moved from the hospital to a long-term facility which is not covered by insurance and the cost will be upwards of $5,000+ a month for an unforeseen amount of time. The good news is that just this week, she has started to move her arms on her own; which gives us hope.
As many of you know, dad has been the sole provider for their family so that Pat could be a full time caregiver to her mother. He works during the day then he is right by her side in the evenings and on weekends to help her with her therapy. Dad and Pat have held steadfast to their faith which helps them continue to move forward even during time when they see a setback.
I know several of you have asked how you can help. Making a donation, of any size, would be a great way to support dad and Pat. This will help lift some of the financial burden allowing dad to focus on helping Pat get better.
We appreciate your support and words of encouragement. They mean a great deal to our family. Keep us in your prayers, they are priceless. God is good!
Sincerely,
Cindy
