This is my mom and her name is Pat Rose. In September 2023 she was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell carcinoma of the lung with mets to her liver. This is an incurable and aggressive cancer. The treatment goal is only to try to provide quality and quantity of life. She started chemotherapy and radiation but the cancer spread to her brain and new masses appearing on her lungs and liver. There are alternative treatments that she would like to try but they are not the usual “standard” of care and insurance will not cover them. She has been through several rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation. Due to being so ill she is unable to work. Just after Christmas she became septic and had to spend a week in The James at OSU only to find out later that they were not in network for her insurance. She struggles to pay her medical bills and her household bills. She loves to sew! For the past few years she has volunteered to alter dresses for honored guest of A Night to Shine. She is always sewing something.
We do not know how much longer she will be with us, but want her not to have to worry about treatment costs. There are places and things she would like to do before she goes home to heaven and reunite with my dad, and I hope to make that possible. We help as much as we can but need help.
