We are reaching out today to ask for your support for a truly beloved member of our community, Pat Dennis. Pat is known for his love of God, family, friends and just about any stranger he meets. He is always the first one willing to lend a hand. Now, Pat needs our help as he faces a challenging battle with cancer.
Pat was recently diagnosed with high-risk prostate cancer following a biopsy on December 12th. The cancer cells found require immediate attention to prevent spreading. While a recent MRI suggests the cancer has not yet metastasized, Pat and his family have made the decision to proceed with surgery to give him the best chance of the cancer being gone completely and a full recovery.
Pat and his brother, Danny, traveled to Salt Lake City on January 6th for a PET Scan at Huntsman Cancer Research Center, a necessary step before his surgery. The scan confirmed the cancer diagnosis but also raised concerns regarding his pancreas and the thyroid on his right side. Because of these additional concerns, Pat is scheduled for an abdominal MRI and a thyroid ultrasound on February 23rd.
Pat’s surgery is scheduled for February 17th and will involve the removal of his prostate and surrounding lymph nodes. While the surgery itself is estimated to take about three hours, the recovery is a long road, with full recovery expected to take approximately six months. Following this, he will have follow-up PSA tests every three months and scans every six months.
Pat and his wife, Jennifer, have already incurred significant expenses traveling for appointments, including trips back and forth to Billings and to Salt Lake City for the PET scan. As they move forward with surgery and the subsequent recovery, there will be substantial additional costs for lodging, food, gas, medical expenses not covered by insurance and all the necessary things for his family to be with him and support him through this fight and recovery.
