Please read the update that has been added to this initial post. Our hearts are with the entire family.
In early October the DeGeorge family suddenly found themselves facing a very uncertain future as Pat was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis. This is a rare cancer of the bone marrow that makes it hard to make new healthy blood cells. The news of course was devastating as this was clearly a life-threatening diagnosis. Although the family immediately took action starting treatment, they received further difficult news in November as his cancer had progressed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia which added a whole new level to this fight.
Pat’s treatment currently consists of regular chemotherapy in addition to regularly needed blood transfusions. Pat is a husband, father of three, and the household's primary provider. Those of you that know Pat know that he is not one to take days off from work, even when he likely should. However, this circumstance requires him to take time off for treatment and rest so that he can focus on fighting this disease.
On behalf of the entire DeGeorge family, my wife Lynne and I are organizing this GoFundMe and are asking for your help to ease the accompanying financial stress that comes with all of this. Your support will assist Pat and family to be able to concentrate on his treatment, rest, and spend time together. The money raised through this GoFundMe will be managed by their son James. The funds will be used for medical expenses, household bills, and anything else that is needed at this time.
Every donation is greatly appreciated and will help make a difference. Even if you can’t contribute financially, please share this campaign while keeping Pat and his family in your heart.
Your support, thoughts, and prayers are beyond meaningful and are appreciated by the whole family. My wife Lynne and I also want to express our gratitude for whatever you can do to help in this time of need. We will share updates on this page as they are shared with us.
From the Heart,
Lynne & Paul Goodman (Family friends from the Forest Lake Neighborhood)
