Support Pasture Fowler After Freezer Failure

Donation protected
In June, our friend and local farmer Steven Fowler of Pasture Fowler unexpectedly lost $18,500 worth of chicken due to a faulty thermometer on a freezer at a shared-used facility. This is a huge loss to a small farm. And it happened due to no fault of Steven's own.

While he hopes that insurance will cover part of this, he will still be left with an $8,500 loss. And he has feed and processing bills to pay for product that he has to throw away. So we're reaching out to this strong community!

Pasture Fowler is one of the largest pastured poultry operations in southeast Ohio. Even so, it's a small farm compared to the way most chicken is produced in this country. Big meat corporations like Tyson can absorb setbacks like this, whereas a loss like this can set farms like ours back for years.

Steven's chicken can be found on the shelves of Seaman's Grocery, Kindred Market, Keller Market House and on the menus at Little Fish Athens and Dayton. If you're already a regular, consider what you would spend on his chicken during these weeks when his product will not be at those markets. Donate that amount to this fundraiser instead!

Not a regular? Consider what you can give in order to be a community safety net for local farms and to create the food system we want to see.

Together we can make sure that this family farm continues to produce sustainable, ethical poultry well into the future.
