My name is Angelica, and I am a close friend to Pastor Mario's family. A dedicated pastor and missionary in Honduras. They have become my family in Christ in the past 9+ years. This is their story:

Our Story — Fighting Liver Cancer with Faith, Urgency, and Hope

This GoFundMe is being created after much prayer and encouragement from people who love us. Asking for help is not easy for our family, but we understand that sometimes allowing others to give is also allowing them to be part of what God is doing.

On March 31, our lives changed suddenly. My father, Pastor Mario Ordonez, was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). This news came as a complete shock to us.

As doctors continued evaluating his condition, we received even more difficult news:

•⁠ ⁠He also has cirrhosis of the liver

•⁠ ⁠The cancer has metastasized to his bones

•⁠ ⁠He has developed fractures in his spine

•⁠ ⁠He suffers from intense and constant pain

•⁠ ⁠Due to esophageal varices and cirrhosis, surgery is not an option

Despite the severity of his condition, my father remains full of faith. He truly believes that God can work through the hands of doctors and through the support of others to bring healing and restoration.

The Urgent Medical Need

Right now, my father needs to begin treatment immediately:

•⁠ ⁠Radiation therapy to help manage the severe bone pain and improve his quality of life

•⁠ ⁠Sorafenib (targeted cancer treatment) to fight the liver tumor, which is already larger than 5 cm

Both treatments are urgent and ongoing:

•⁠ ⁠Sorafenib must be purchased every month

•⁠ ⁠Radiation therapy will continue as needed for his recovery

Unfortunately, he does not currently have insurance, which makes accessing these treatments extremely difficult.

The Financial Reality

Cancer treatment is not only physically and emotionally overwhelming—it is also financially heavy.

The costs we are facing include:

•⁠ ⁠Monthly medication (Sorafenib)

•⁠ ⁠Radiation therapy sessions

•⁠ ⁠Medical consultations and imaging

•⁠ ⁠Pain management and supportive care

Without immediate support, delays in treatment could significantly impact his condition.

His Heart

My father is more than a patient—he is a pastor, a man of faith, and someone who has dedicated his life to serving others.

Right now, even standing for long periods is difficult because of the damage in his body. But his desire remains the same:

to return to leading his church, loving people, and serving with the gifts God has given him.

Helping him receive treatment is not just about extending life—

it’s about giving him the opportunity to continue walking in his calling.

Nuestra Historia — Enfrentando el Cáncer con Fe, Urgencia y Esperanza- Pastor Mario

Este GoFundMe nace después de mucha oración y del ánimo de personas que nos aman. Pedir ayuda no es algo fácil para nuestra familia, pero entendemos que permitir que otros den también es permitirles ser parte de lo que Dios está haciendo.

El pasado 31 de marzo, nuestra vida cambió de manera inesperada. A mi papá, Mario, le diagnosticaron carcinoma hepatocelular (cáncer de hígado). Fue una noticia que nos tomó completamente por sorpresa.

Conforme avanzaron los estudios, recibimos más noticias difíciles:

•⁠ ⁠También padece de cirrosis hepática

•⁠ ⁠El cáncer ha hecho metástasis en los huesos

•⁠ ⁠Tiene fracturas en la columna

•⁠ ⁠Sufre de dolor intenso y constante

•⁠ ⁠Debido a várices esofágicas y la cirrosis, no es candidato para cirugía

A pesar de la gravedad del diagnóstico, mi papá sigue firme en su fe. Él cree que Dios puede obrar a través de los médicos y del apoyo de las personas para traer sanidad y restauración.

La Necesidad Médica Urgente

En este momento, mi papá necesita iniciar tratamiento de manera inmediata:

•⁠ ⁠Radioterapia para ayudar a controlar el dolor intenso en los huesos y mejorar su calidad de vida

•⁠ Sorafenib (tratamiento dirigido contra el cáncer) para combatir el tumor en el hígado, que ya supera los 5 cm

Ambos tratamientos son urgentes y continuos:

•⁠ ⁠El Sorafenib debe comprarse mensualmente

•⁠ ⁠La radioterapia será necesaria de forma continua según su evolución

Lamentablemente, actualmente no cuenta con seguro médico, lo que dificulta enormemente el acceso a estos tratamientos.

La Realidad Financiera

El tratamiento contra el cáncer no solo es un desafío físico y emocional, también representa una carga económica significativa.

Los costos incluyen:

•⁠ ⁠Medicación mensual (Sorafenib)

•⁠ ⁠Sesiones de radioterapia

•⁠ ⁠Consultas médicas y estudios

•⁠ ⁠Manejo del dolor y cuidados complementarios

Sin el apoyo necesario, retrasar el tratamiento puede afectar seriamente su condición.

Su Corazón

Mi papá no es solo un paciente. Es pastor, un hombre de fe, y alguien que ha dedicado su vida a servir a otros.

Hoy, incluso estar de pie por mucho tiempo se le hace difícil debido al daño en su cuerpo. Pero su deseo sigue intacto:

volver a liderar su iglesia, amar a las personas y servir con los dones que Dios le ha dado.

Hemos hecho todo lo que está en nuestras manos, pero en este momento no podemos solos.
