So, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer a little less than a year ago. I can prove everything with medical documents.
I also had rotator cuff surgery for the third time on May 20th, and I've been treated for that for so long I lost my medical coverage.
I am a Pastor in New York City. I'm a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and my whole life is spreading the Gospel anywhere I go and everywhere I go.
As my wife and I cross this fork in the road and these really tough times, although we trust in the Lord and believe in Him fully, we're also finding ourselves at a loss for words and money for treatment.
Sometimes believing in the Lord is listening to people that want to help you.
To add fuel to the fire, my wife has had lymphoma two times before, and there is a new bump on her neck that we believe to be lymphoma, although not confirmed to be brutally honest.
This GoFundMe is created for one reason, to have money to go to medical appointments because I haven't been to an appointment in about 6 months and I have no idea what's going on with my cancer.
PSA levels have dropped miraculously, but we're not even sure what that means. My urologist and cancer doctor, Dr. Rotman on Lexington Avenue, New York City, said he would waive the copay and even the office visit fee, but then the lab is so expensive I just don't know what to do; we don't know what to do. If there are any men that read this, trust me, if you ever have a problem and need a urologist, he's the guy and the doctor that you need. Also, my wife has not been able to go to the doctor because I lost my coverage.
My wife is an accountant. Anything donated to us can be proven, and everybody will have access to the financial records and medical records.
We live a life of serving people and serving the Lord.
Embarrassment and shame are so overt right now as I create this GoFundMe. Truth is, though, that's just pride. A dollar will help, 50 cents will help... And that is no cliché.
The day I was diagnosed, I told my wife I am so excited. She looked at me kind of puzzled, and I said, think of all the people we can meet and all the times we can plant seeds of salvation when we go to the doctor together.
Even if we don't get a dollar in donations, what I want everyone to know is that the Lord Jesus Christ is real. He rose from the dead. He's waiting for you to come to Him and receive eternal life and salvation because of the blood that He freely gave. You can be saved.
Updates will be given as I find out more and more about my health and my wife, of course, as well.
In Christ's Love,
Pastor Brian and Grace Whitaker
