The Ask
Hello beautiful people! I am writing to ask for your support in helping me continue my education at Boston University and receive mental health services. I am currently working on my MSW and I’m on track for clinical social work, ending my last semester with a 4.0 GPA. With the intent of being transparent, I want to share that 2023 was incredibly hard for me financially due to concerns for my mental health and recovery. As someone who is part of the very communities I serve, I had to take a pause from my master's program because I could not afford to continue the year while also working full time, being my sole provider for all of my daily expenses and completing an intensive mental health program. I was also unable to complete my partial hospitalization program due to lack of funds and health coverage to pay for this care. I am asking for your assistance to help me raise $8,000 to help me continue to pick myself back up, pay for my mental health care, and get back into school.

The amount that I owe for my mental and behavioral health care is currently $2,840.26.
The breakdown of the tuition expenses is as follows:
  • Spring 1 2023: $2,811.00
  • Spring 2 2023: $2,811.00
  • Summer 1 2023: $3,021.00
  • Summer 2 2023: $3,021.00
Subtotal after aid: $6,042.00
This doesn’t include other expenses like textbooks and student fees!

About Me
To tell you a little bit about me, I graduated from Lawrence University with a major in psychology and a minor in education studies. As a survivor, I am passionate about working with other survivors within our community, and I am looking forward to expanding my skills in trauma-informed collective care. I am prioritizing healing alongside those of us within the QTBIPOC community who have experienced violence and harm, especially our youth. With my undergraduate degree, I have worked extensively with youth in many social service positions. In various roles, I am working with diverse populations, including students, adult clients, and individuals impacted by substance abuse disorders, domestic violence, and other mental health challenges. I provide ongoing support, education, and resources to help them meet their goals and improve their well-being.

As the Youth & Young Adult Advocate at Diverse & Resilient, I provide case management, crisis intervention, and support for LGTBTQIA+ youth and young adult survivors in our anti-violence program. I also facilitate support groups and collaborate with other advocates for harm reduction initiatives. I was recently asked to join the advisory council for the National LGBTQ Institute on IPV (Intimate Partner Violence) to continue providing advocacy and care for our community. Additionally, I participate in mentorship programs within the community and develop therapeutic relationships to assist individuals in their journey towards healing and growth.

I want to continue to be able to do this work, receive the psychiatric care that I desperately need, and have my MSW under my belt. Any and all help is more than appreciated.
