I'm fundraising for the Parkrose High School Cross Country Team after recent school district budget cuts reduced support for the program. The district did its best to prioritize funding for the most mandatory needs in order to keep extracurricular programs like sports in place, but that has still left important gaps for our team.

Those cuts have affected gear for students with fewer resources, out-of-district meet entry fees, transportation, and snacks. Because of the lack of funding, the team has not been able to register for as many meets this season. Some students have also not signed up because they did not have running shoes, and the team has not been able to help as easily as in years past.

This has also placed more of a burden on coaches and parents, who are trying to cover transportation and other costs so students can still participate. Our goal is to help make sure current team members have a great season and that every student who wants to run has the opportunity to be part of the team.

Donations will help the team register for more events this season and provide transportation and gear for students whose families cannot afford those costs on their own. Additionally the funding raised will help support our athletes who qualify for the Oregon State meet to help cover the costs of transportation, lodging and meals while traveling. Any support, no matter the amount, would make a real difference for these student-athletes.
