When my son Parker was diagnosed with diabetes, our world changed overnight. No parent ever expects to become an expert in glucose monitors, carbohydrate counting, and insulin doses, but that’s now our daily reality. Parker is the brightest, most adventurous little boy I know, and I want nothing more than for him to have a carefree childhood. Since his diagnosis, though, our days are filled with doctor’s appointments, pharmacy runs, and the constant worry that comes with managing his blood sugar levels. The dreams I had for Parker—days spent just being a kid—now feel overshadowed by the challenges of his condition.

Managing diabetes is expensive. The best insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, nutritious food, and frequent checkups all add up quickly. On top of the medical costs, I want to make sure Parker still gets every chance to experience life’s adventures. I want him to go to summer camp safely, try new sports, and travel to the places he dreams of—without his diagnosis holding him back. Every dollar raised will go toward making Parker’s life not just longer, but richer and more joyful.
