In 2017, our friend, son, brother, and uncle, Parker Holt, was diagnosed with a diffuse astrocytoma brain tumor. After fighting through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, he’s been blessed with eight good years — graduating from Utah Valley University, working as a staff member with the Westlake Marching Band, leading clinics in Utah County schools, and giving private horn lessons. Sharing his skills, talents, love of music, and his love for his students has given him and those he works with so much joy.

Recently, Parker and his family received the heartbreaking news that his cancer is spreading despite ongoing treatments. He now faces another surgery, followed by more radiation and chemotherapy. The road ahead will be difficult, and he will likely lose some motor functions as a result of the surgery.

This GoFundMe has been created at the request of many of his friends and loved ones who want to support Parker through this time — easing the financial strain of lost income, helping cover the unpredictable costs and expenses not covered by insurance, and giving him the chance to experience a few things he’d like to do once he’s well enough. Parker is determined to return to his work and students as soon as he can.
